Day 1: Fes – The Alpine Middle Atlas – Merzouga Sahara

The Mountain Migration
Your expedition begins with a morning pick-up in Fes, heading south toward the cool heights of Ifrane. Known as “Little Switzerland,” this mountain refuge offers a crisp contrast to the medieval city. You will wander the ancient cedar forests of Azrou before crossing the High Atlas via the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass. As the landscape turns to terracotta, you will trace the emerald Ziz River toward the Saharan horizon.

The Golden Hour
By late afternoon, you will reach the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. You will switch to your private camel caravan, gliding into the sands as the sunset paints the ridges in shades of violet and gold. Your night is spent in a Luxury Desert Camp, where a gourmet Berber dinner and traditional drumming around the campfire create a night of pure Saharan magic under a vast, open sky.

Day 2: Deep Desert Exploration – Nomads & Gnaoua Heritage

The Nomadic Soul
Wake in the pre-dawn stillness to witness the desert’s daily rebirth at sunrise. After an artisanal breakfast, you return to your 4×4 for a day of cultural immersion. You will drive off-road to visit an ancient eyeliner mine and spend time with a nomadic family in their hand-woven tent. In the afternoon, the village of Khamlia welcomes you with the hypnotic rhythms of Gnaoua music, followed by a peaceful stroll through the Merzouga palm groves. Your second night is spent in an excellent desert hotel, offering a refined sanctuary at the edge of the dunes.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

The Fossil & The Canyon
After breakfast, you visit Rissani, the historic trading capital of the Tafilalet, to wander its authentic souk. The journey continues to Erfoud to witness the transformation of fossilized marble into art. By afternoon, you will reach the Todra Gorges, a grand limestone canyon that serves as a cathedral of rock. After a walk through the cool gorge floor, you proceed to the Dades Valley, stopping at the “Monkey Fingers” rock formation before a night of mountain hospitality.

Day 4: Dades – Valley of the Roses – Skoura – Ouarzazate

The Fragrant Path
The fourth day traces the Valley of the Roses toward Kalaa Magouna, where the air is scented with Damascus roses. You will explore the lush Skoura Oasis and the 17th-century Kasbah of Amridil, a masterpiece of mud-brick architecture. The day concludes in Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you can visit the legendary film studios and the Taourirt Kasbah, the former residence of the Glaoui dynasty.

Day 5: Ait Ben Haddou – The High Atlas – Marrakech

The Cinematic Finale
On your final day, you visit the iconic Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the backdrop for masterpieces like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After exploring its winding towers, you begin the final ascent of the High Atlas Mountains. Crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2,260 meters, the landscape eventually softens as you descend toward the Red City. You arrive in Marrakech by early evening, marking the end of your 5-day trans-Atlas odyssey.
